Top Three Music Alternatives

I love music. I always have a song stuck in my head, ALWAYS! Now, however, there is a lot of songs with bad messages. Almost all of them... There is Christian radio though. But, for me, I'd rather cut off my ears. My music interests have a very wide spectrum. From Beethoven to AC/DC to LL Cool J to Vaughn de Leath to Pierce the Veil, I'll listen to most anything. The music on Christian radio though, is just not good. Good messages but bad music.

This made a wall between me and Christian music. I thought what was on the radio was all there was. Then I started to find Christian counter-parts to the bands I love. I kept on this lead and started to chip away at the wall.

The first Christian musician I found and liked was Lecrae. Lecrae gave me that hardcore rap style I liked from Tyler, the Creator, Odd Future, Hopsin, Ice Cube, N.W.A., etc. and used it to share the word of God. Unlike most rappers, his slow songs are good too. For example, his recently released "I'll Find You" with Tori Kelley, is absolutely great!

Opposite of rap, I really like hard rock music. Pierce the Veil, Egypt Central, Three Days Grace, Falling in Reverse and others top my list. The first good rock band I found, and my favourite Christian rock band, if not my favourite Christian musician in general, is Wolves at the Gate. My hard rock tastes are very particular. I don't like just screams and yelling, but I do like an edge and like Pierce the Veil, Wolves at the Gate fit right into my liking.

80s Glam Metal, also known as Hair Metal, is a genre far from any other. From Twisted Sister to Poison to Mötley Crüe to Guns N Roses, the music is timeless. Rock and roll has always been associated with the devil but Styper challenged that. Styper has the sound and look of any majour 80s rock band but with a Christian twist.

There are other Christian bands on my playlist that I'm sure I'll talk about later but these are probably my top three. These three gave me hope and opened me to a world in music I didn't know existed. Because of them I listen almost entirely to bands the profess a Christian message through the songs rather than sex and drugs. Good Christian bands are harder to find but once you look you'll see that there are so many more than anyone could expect.

That's all for now. May God bless you today and I hope you have sweet dreams.
